Baby Alpaca is a very soft wool, this fine fiber contains microscopic air pockets which make it very light while being 5 to 7 times warmer than classic sheep's wool.
Contrary to what the name might suggest, so-called "baby alpaca" wool does not come from the shearing of a baby alpaca, but simply corresponds to a fiber whose fineness is between 18 and 22 microns.
Baby Alpaca is not itchy because it does not contain lanolin and its fiber structure is very soft. Baby Alpaca fibers are strong and elastic. You can knit it by hand or machine, weave it, or felt it.
