FAQ
1) I want to know more about the brands sold by WOLLY ROGER?
If you're here, sailor, it's probably because you too have high standards regarding the threads you put on your skin and that of your loved ones. At Wolly Roger, we love family businesses with strong values and nothing to hide.
As you browse our site, you'll see that yarns can be categorized by brand, including: discover the family farm Attali and meet the pioneers of organic knitting, BC Garn!

2) What fibers make up the yarns sold by WOLLY ROGER?
Just ask, sailor! Like us, you know that animal and plant fibers represent a source of wealth for the people who produce them and don't cause the environmental problems that synthetic yarns can pose during the production process. Wolly Roger is therefore particularly careful about the origin of its yarns and mainly sells yarns made from tencel, wool, cotton, alpaca, linen, mohair, and silk.
In some cases, such as sock yarn, a small percentage of nylon, a synthetic material, is essential to ensure socks are resistant to rubbing against shoes and repeated washing. We therefore offer high-quality yarns that allow you to achieve a durable product that will remain beautiful for a long time.
As you browse our site, you'll see that yarns can be categorized by fiber type, among other things: head to our merino for a baby project, or head to the silk road for a spring scarf!

3) Where do the threads sold by WOLLY ROGER come from?
Like a true pirate, Wolly Roger sails the world's seas in search of ever more wonderful treasures. Our balls and skeins come from diverse locations such as South America (Argentina, Uruguay, and Peru), Asia (India and China), South Africa, Europe (Great Britain, France), and of course, we offer local wools from Alsatian sheep.
As you browse our site, you'll see that the yarns can be categorized by origin, among other things: treat yourself to a trip to Cape Town thanks to the expertise of our friends at Cowgirl Blues or breathe in the salty air of the British coast in Erika Knight yarns!

4) Can I find yarns suitable for all projects at WOLLY ROGER?
There are a number of different yarn sizes, and depending on the project you're making and your knitting style, you'll tend toward one yarn size rather than another. Wolly Roger offers yarns ranging from lace to chunky for a variety of pleasures.
In addition to the yarn size designation, it's important to know the brand's gauge (attention, sailor, don't forget that a good wool pirate always makes a swatch before starting a new project! Better to spend 30 minutes on a swatch than 3 hours unraveling your knitting, right?)
As you browse our site, you'll see that yarns can be categorized by size, among other things: fall for the refinement of a lace yarn or dig your fingers into a bulky yarn for an ultra-soft hat!

5) Are the colors on the site reliable?
Wolly Roger strives to be as faithful as possible in its product descriptions and the photos used are most often those of partner brands.
Please note that each screen displays colors differently; some will appear lighter than they actually are, while others will appear more intense. Feel free to change your screen settings if you notice that the colors on the website are different from the balls/skeins you received.
Hand-dyed yarns, like all handcrafted products, may vary, even within the same color and batch. We recommend alternating skeins every one or two rows to minimize possible dye variations.
6) My name is Guybrush Threepwood and I want to become a woolly pirate, can I join the WOLLY ROGER crew?

7) How do baths work at WOLLY ROGER?
Obviously, when you place an order with Wolly Roger, we assume that several balls/skeins of the same color will be used for the same project, so you will receive items from the same dye bath.

Wolly Roger is ready to go back to the other side of the world to find a specific bath, if it is still available from the supplier.
