Jaipur Peace Silk originates from a farm in northeast Thailand. This silk is produced in the purest tradition of respecting animals: the cocoons of the Eri silkworms grown on this farm are cut open to allow the animal to escape and are not killed during the manufacturing process as mulberry silkworms traditionally are. This is why this thread is called Peace Silk (or ahimsa silk).

The resulting silk, called Eri silk, isn't exactly as lustrous as mulberry silk, but it has a similar drape. It's a drier wool to the touch, a bit like silk noil. Nevertheless , Jaipur Peace Silk is spun consistently and will adapt brilliantly to all the patterns originally intended for Jaipur Silk Fino.

Note: Silk tends to stretch when washed and does not have the same elastic properties as most animal fibers. We recommend taking these characteristics into account (10% variation). Wash and dry your sample for accurate measurements.

Additionally, silk absorbs a lot of dye and may bleed during your first few washes. Ideally, a final dip in vinegar water will help stabilize the color.
